Royal Mail Click & Drop: delivered duty paid for international parcels
Tilted Carriers books Royal Mail shipments straight from your Sage 200 despatches, through Royal Mail's Shipping API or through Click & Drop, and saves the label, any customs documents and the tracking number against the order.
For international parcels, who pays the import duty makes a real difference to the customer. If the recipient is asked to pay on the doorstep, parcels can be refused and returned, and the customer is left unhappy. Shipping delivered duty paid (DDP) means you settle the duty and your customer receives the parcel without a surprise charge.
This month we brought Click & Drop shipments into line with Royal Mail's current requirements. Each Carriers service now chooses one of Royal Mail's own delivery terms, including its DDP terms, instead of a simple DDP tick box, and the duty details Royal Mail asks for go with every DDP shipment, so it is accepted first time.
As before, the customs information comes from Sage: commodity codes, country of origin and values for each item, with your EORI, VAT or IOSS and UKIMS numbers, and printed customs forms where Royal Mail provides them.
If you send parcels abroad and want to stop rekeying shipments into a carrier's website, Tilted Carriers can help.
